Whether you are a Controller player OR Keyboard and Mouse player it is FACT that each of these methods of playing have their on own pros and cons when compared to each other. From my experience, yes it is faster and "easier" to flick onto a target with a mouse, but when I flick onto someone with a controller I can FEEL the aim assist telling me when I am on a target because the speed at which I am flicking with has now momentarily slowed down. When it comes to tracking, I personally found it easier to track with the controller when the target was moving in one direction, but if the target started strafing the mouse would shine in that scenario. We could go days upon days talking about advantages and disadvantages of Mouse vs Controller and it is a truly dried out topic. I only bring this up because well, once again Rogue Company. Rogue Company is still in it's infancy stages and I am really curious what road it will take in regards to what they will use in their "official" tournaments. Controller or mouse and keyboard? I stand 100 PERCENT behind the "Shroud" opinion. His opinion is basically....you got to pick one. Official matches should be about "balanced" you don't want a one vs one for a million bucks to be decided by what a player decided to use to aim with. I've played with both methods on Rogue for a decent amount of time now (of course cracked with whatever you put in my hands) I really like the way the game feels with the mouse and keyboard. I hope Hi-Rez announces what they are doing when it comes to their official matches because if some poor, yet talented bastard has been grinding two thousand hours on controller and they announce they are going mouse and keyboard that would be kind of fucked. LET US KNOW HI-REZ. Pretty please.

The older I get the more I realize sometimes the things I thought were great, were great because of circumstances and timing. For example, my Twitter timeline will constantly remind you how great the Halo 2 and Halo 3 MLG days were. I've been deep in the Halo scene since 2004. I'm DIEHARD, I love the games, I loved watching the events, but I'm not an idiot. At the time when Halo reigned supreme there wasn't many options when it came to making money from console shooters. Halo kind of had gamers by the balls for a very long time. The sponsors, the prize pools, and the spotlight. If you wanted any of those things you competed in Halo.
Back in Halo CE, Halo 2, and ONE event in Halo 3 Final Boss, a roster consisting of legendary players Walshy, Ogre 1, Ogre 2, and Saiyan (LATER replaced by Strongside in 2007) were winning basically EVERY tournament they had competed in. The only truly crazy loss that comes to mind during their reign of terror was the famous 2006 defeat to Carbon in the National Championship. They did bounce back the following year winning the National Championship and the final event for Halo 2 poetically against Carbon. Final Boss became the undisputed greatest team to play ever play Halo. A handful of years later I personally believe a NEW team has entered the discussion for the GREATEST roster to play Halo. That roster being Lethul, Snakebite, Royal 2, and the flip flop of Frosty and APG (CLG, Optic, TOX and now Sentinels). I remember Slasher tweeting that this group of players were in the same realm as that legendary Final Boss squad and he got some serious heat for it. As much as my nostalgia doesn't want to admit it he IS RIGHT. It got me thinking, just for funsies, what if you took PRIME Final Boss and the CURRENT Sentinels roster, gave them the SAME amount of playtime with each Halo that was ever competed in, and had them play a best of 7 in each game. This is purely for fun and speculative, but I would love to see who you have in each game. I'll get the ball rolling with my predictions and you'll find those below. Have fun with this and don't take it too seriously....PLEASE. Tweet me your predictions @TheNicktac. Halo 1- Final Boss 4-2 Halo 2/H2A- Final Boss 4-3 Halo 3- Sentinels 4-1 Halo Reach (No Bloom/No Sprint)- Final Boss 4-3 Halo 4- Sentinels 4-1 Halo 5- Sentinels 4-0
All I was trying to do was take a day off from Rocket League. Nothing crazy. It's healthy to take time off from things you love On second thought I'm pretty sure they call a "break" from a marriage a "divorce". I'm not quite there yet with Rocket League, but as I have consistently blogged about, I'm playing Rogue Company between Rocket League grinds and it's been great. However, even when I am playing Rogue Company I can't help but think about Rocket League. Maybe I'm feeling guilty that I am playing something other than the game that has LITERALLY paid a handful of my bills, paid for a few nice vacations, and in general turned my dreams into a reality. Today I couldn't help myself. As I was testing my stream for Rogue Company (I was having some audio issue I had to fix) a player was asking what games I normally a stream. When I said "Rocket League" he brought up that he always wanted to give the game a shot and just hasn't yet. As the GREAT LEADER that I am for the RL scene I told him he should give it a go. Being the selfless, humble, average joe that I am, I even offered to take him under my wing and show him the ropes. During this time HIS FRIEND asked if I was willing to help him play Rocket League as well. OF COURSE I WILL. This has NOTHING to do with growing my PERSONAL BRAND OR Bad Manners Esports. This strictly has to do with growing the the game that I owe so much to. WELCOME you two. You're going to love my channel.....I mean Rocket League.
I know I've been talking about Rogue Company a lot lately, but it's been nice finding another game to dip my toes into after the unsafe roller coaster ride that is Rocket League Solo-Queue. So for the time being....deal with it. I have also been keeping an eye out on Rogue Company especially with the Ranked beta coming out right around the corner. I'm excited to see how this game ACTUALLY plays when people are actually playing for something. With that being said I did listen to the latest RoCo Radio Episode (Can be found on Youtube and Spotify) and there was a very small discussion about "competitive" Strikeout. The discussion was whether if Strikeout was competitive or not and if it deserved it's own ranked playlist. I think you are bat shit bananas if you don't think Strikeout is competitive. If you followed Black Ops 4 there was a mode called Control which is very similar to what we see in Strikeout. X amount of lives per team, control an objective, first to X amount of rounds wins the match. At the Pro level (at the time called the CWL) Control produced some of the most hyped moments of that games existence. So yes, Strikeout would work as a "competitive" mode in Rogue Company, but I, the big brainer that I am wants to take it ONE STEP further. What if the Ranked Playlist in Rogue Company had rotating game modes. Kind of like what we see in the Halo series for example, Hardcore Playlist (Halo 2), MLG Playlist (Halo 3), Arena Playlist (Halo 5), etc. You would search in these ranked playlist and would not know if you were playing Slayer, CTF, KOTH, or Oddball. You HAD to be a MULTI-Dimensional player. At this moment in Rogue Company, I don't see that style of a ranked playlist working, BUT the more I think about it the more I believe King of the Hill could somehow work in this game. If this was the case rotating Demolition, Strikeout, and KOTH would make this game way more interesting. It would give us more things to discuss and observe, especially in the pro scene. We would be able to see what teams excel in "respawn" game modes and what teams struggle in "one life" game modes. We'd also be able to see what players dominate in certain modes.
Just let this idea simmer in your noggin for a bit and let me know what you guys think over on Twitter @TheNicktac. Also I'll be streaming Rogue Company tomorrow after my Rocket League grind so I hope to see your beautiful cyber faces there. Twitch.tv/Nicktacular Back in 2008, there was only a handful of games you could honestly "compete" in and make enough to come even remotely close to a full-time salary. The big one during this time was obviously Halo 3, but MLG also was dabbling with other shooters at this time such as Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I thought seeing the letters "M-L-G" in Halo 3 with the release of the "MLG Playlist" was bonkers. Little do people know that Ubisoft released an MLG inspired map for the Rainbow Six Vegas 2. This map was simply called "MLG Convention Center". The map was exactly what you would expect to see at one of these MLG events, monitors, consoles, controllers everywhere. The map even featured a full blown main stage. It was an MLG FAN'S wet dream.....trust me on that.
