JDSJakey is a Rocket League streamer, TikToker, Youtuber, and overall good fucking guy. He has put in a shit ton of effort into growing his scene and though I'm going to be fairly critical of him in this blog, he does do good work overall. As a viewer of his, I've noticed a pattern with this guy. That pattern being he works hard, streams a ton, contents being made, and after three or so weeks of this he does a YouTube video or a "Just Chatting" stream about how he isn't happy with his stream, his numbers aren't good, or quitting Rocket League to grow somewhere else. It kind of tiring. He is also out their claiming Rocket League has basically fucked him because if he plays anything else he loses viewers. That's going to happen. I think the reason he loses so many people is because he doesn't realize what kind of content he is really good at. Jake is super talented in educational based Rocket League content. When I pop on his stream and he is just playing the game with a face cam...it's not all that entertaining, but when he is doing coaching sessions and talking about the actual game it IS PURE GOLD. This kind of skill can open avenues to more educational content for other games and not JUST Rocket League. I think Jake didn't fuck himself by picking Rocket League, I think he fucked himself by picking Twitch as his main platform. The educational/"tips" style of content flourishes on YouTube and TikTok. If I was him I'd drop 80% of the hours I put in Twitch and take those hours and pump that effort into 2-3 quality YouTube videos a week. I'm going to make this about myself for a second, because I'm a narcissist. I was doing educational stuff for Halo back in 2007. It was doing very good, but one day I streamed on Justin.tv (now Twitch) and I was doing better numbers because I'm kind of a lunatic when I play live and I guess people liked it. Though I enjoyed YouTube slightly more than streaming at that time I realized my personality fit streaming more. Did I quit YouTube? No. I just put more time into the streaming side of things. In the CONTENT game you got to focus on what you're good at. Jake, you got the skills, you got the POWER, now use this godlike information from my giant, fat brain and get that bread.

Recently, Call of Duty put on one of the greatest events I have EVER seen in my 18 years of watching esports. The OpTic Run, Seattle upsetting FaZe, the most banana comeback in COD history took place during the FINALS. And to have a fantastic event with such a loud crowd to witness all this go down was a beautiful cherry on top of this entertaining sundae. However, in typical COD fashion some players went and fucked it up. A Tweet came out that MULTIPLE players tested positive for COVID-19. At first I thought maybe it was just bad luck, maybe they got it from their actual travels home and I'm sure some pro's caught it while following the guidelines set by CDL, but how these players got it is basically impossible to tell. You can go off some evidence that found its way onto Twitter. Hydra the French superstar on NYSL, was exposed taking pictures with fans in the crowd, which was a huge no-no going into the event. FUCKING STUPID, and that's coming from me, a guy who honestly at this point is fucking tired of COVID and all of its regulations. I wear my mask and I try not to make out with as many strangers as I used to, but I'm done with pausing the world, I'm done with people putting their lives on hold for something that kills 1.45% of the people that catch it. With that said, if you getting sick messes with the money in my pocket then yeah I will care a bit more. Hydra did exactly that by breaking the protocols that the CDL set. I understand why Hydra wanted to mingle with the crowd. It's his first event and with a crowd. But come on. You couldn't wait until after Champs to be this stupid. I know I'm roasting Hydra here even though it has been confirmed a handful of pros were out there with the fans and they too are equally idiots. You are fucking with people's health and people's wallets. Most importantly you are fucking with the other pros and teammates that are following the rules. Think about this. If you were Hydra's teammate, following the COVID rules set by the CDL and Hydra breaks those rules, he catches COVID, you then catch COVID from him during a in-person VOD review or something YOU ARE NOT going to champs. You just missed out of possible life changing money. Get better morons.
