On the 7th of July College Carball Association tweeted out their line up of casters and hosts for the Summer Series of "College Carball" (College Carball is a shit name btw). To the shame of Twitter the cast of characters in this post was very.....well...white. Don't get me wrong if I was the public relations guy for this organization I would of probably nudge the guy who cast this crew and been like "I see a lot of salt...not so much pepper" before publishing this tweet. ALL JOKING aside, I don't think people at CCA are fucking racist or anything. None of us know how things really went down to formulate this cast. Maybe people of color, women, etc were reached out and unable to attend. Regardless of what happened I also just want you all to use your god damn brains and realize it's MORE likely to be a statistic issue than a straight up race issue. "Wow Nick this sounds pretty ignorant." Shut up Twitter and follow along. Imagine I had a giant bucket that represents the Rocket League population. I take 8,000 White marbles 2000 Black marbles, 1500 Yellow marbles, 1000 Pink marbles, etc. You guys should get the picture by now. I take that bucket and mix the shit out of it. I now tell you that for every 50 marbles in that bucket, 1 is a caster. What really matters is this next point. For every 200 marbles 1 is a TALENTED CASTER. It's not racism, It's just a numbers game people. Don't get me wrong, I've been following this scene since the beginning and at no point did I feel this game promotes racism or anything along those lines. I think the personalities that do represent a minority in this game aren't put in the spotlight because they are said minority, but because they are TALENTED. I'd watch an all White cast as long as they are talented. Same goes with an ALL Black cast, Asian cast, etc. Talent doesn't care about your race, creed, politics, or sexuality. Talent is Talent and Numbers are Numbers.

You have to be completely blind to say that Rogue Company is in a good state. I'm not going to sugar coat it. That's coming from a guy who loves this god forsaken game. The continuous updates for this game is great, however, with every update that comes I get the vibe that the updates are implemented to JUST keep the idiots (like myself) that HAVE BEEN playing the game to keep playing the game. Characters, Bug Fixes....and LIMITED modes. Nothing new that catches the twinkling eyes of people that haven't play this game or just given up on it. We have to offer SOMETHING at this point. A Horde mode, A MW2 style Spec Ops mode, fuck it Rogue Company Kart Racing. Give them the bait that these gamers so desire and from there they will hopefully dabble with the competitive side of things.
The devs aren't the only ones to blame. A LOT of you high level players are a bunch of assholes even when it comes to even GROWING YOUR scene. I get it, a lot of you guys come from being tier two players of the previous games you were playing before you found Rogue Company and now you are FINALLY finding success in this game. That's awesome, but the way you guy neglect NEW and cracked players is going to fuck your infrastructure down the line. Back in my Halo days the way I got my break was literally because I played well against Ninja in Halo Reach. I played well, he needed one more to fill his party, I got an invite, and boom my name got out there. I ended up playing with others pro's from there and I eventually got on a team from all that none sense. Do YOU HAVE to acknowledge new and talented players? Fuck no. Think about it though, you give those new player a little gas, a little hype and now they are more likely to stick around either joining a team or creating a team. The more teams that sign up and compete in tournaments the more likely sponsors are willing to throw money at the scene. The more money in the scene, the more money YOU can possibly make. Just stop being dumbasses and look at the bigger pictures please. |
